How does it work

The World Health Organisation recognises Chiropractic as a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal ( Nerve, muscle and skeletal) system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation, with a particular focus on the subluxation.

Spinal bones can become restricted or misaligned – this is what is called a vertebral subluxation complex or more simply a subluxation.

Dr Morten Westergaard

Subluxated joints can be responsible for applying pressure or irritation to nerves leading to tingling, numbness or pain but could be so subtle that they cause no symptoms at all. Chiropractors are specifically trained to identify the presence of subluxations. Although it takes years to develop the sensitive touch to locate subluxations, you are likely to recognise them if they are pointed out to you.

The treatment carried out by chiropractor Morten Westergaard will help to reduce the pressure and irritation on your nerves, taking away the interference so your body can do what it needs to do.

How quickly will I get better?

All health care professions know that healing comes from within.

That is why treatment from your chiropractor works together with you so you can get the result you seek in the quickest possible time. Follow the recommendations given by your Doctor of Chiropractic – they are there to help you.

The three phase of recovery

  • Initial Care

The objective is to start the healing process. New symptoms often improve quite rapidly during this phase, whereas long-standing problems often improve more gradually.

  • Corrective care

This phase of care is mainly given to help those people who struggle to maintain proper joint function due to a long-standing problem or following trauma and accidents. The objective is to repeatedly treat a specific area in order to restore optimal joint mobility. Your specific needs will be recommended by your chiropractor.

  • Maintenance Care

Once the corrective care is complete regular check-ups can help ensure you maintain your result and stay well.
